GA-8 Airvan Progress Update: Tablet, FS2024 & Release Plan

Time for the latest news from SWS and let’s start with the GA-8 Airvan! The plane got its first preview by Stormbirds, and we were quite happy to see that no unknown problems cropped up! The avionics team is working on the tablet, which is coming together nicely and will carry over to the PC-12 and our future releases, while the systems team are combing out the failures module and how it will tie in to the tablet.

As we have said, our goal is to have the failure module release concurrently with the base aircraft, and this has caused the release window to slip a bit into mid-May. While we’ll take a hit, it will also allow some extra time for testing the various failures better.

On the FS24 front, the 2020 version of the aircraft has a couple of quirks in the new sim which we are looking to fix, but the weight is on the 2024-native version. That one is already in FS2024 and working to the same standard as the 2020 version, plus some career mode features! This is being developed in parallel, so there is a good chance the 2020 and 2024 release will happen very close together. At this point it is worth mentioning that if you buy the 2020 version of the Airvan you will also get the 2024 version for free.

Lastly, the team will be taking an Easter break next week, leaving on Wednesday the 16th and coming back on the 23rd, bringing more news on the Airvan and the Kodiak 900 for FS2024!
